CLINIQUE - 3 step Skin Care : Skin Type 4 (combination to oily)

HiyA Lovelies,

Surprisingly enough excluding the Clinique chubby stick nothing has ever been very exciting for me. I was well aware of the Clinique brand and their products. Sadly the Clinique counters dint quiet excite me at all, thanks to the always serious and unapproaching dermatologists. Finally one day strolling through various counters I decided to try the 3 Step Skin Care System that I had heard so many wonderful things about. Most of all I wanted to try the products to see what the fuss was all about. As usual I was being a skeptic and was unsure if the products would suit me. Even though I knew I had an combination skin I still took their skin test. There are 4 skin types recorded by Clinique: Type 1- dry skin, Type 2- dry to combination skin, Type 3- combination to oily skin, Type 4- oily skin. Through the test they carried out on my skin and as per the categories they had made to determine the skin types, apparently I was skin Type 3- combination to oily. Still being unsure of the products I took the introductory pack and well all I can say is I am glad I did.

This pack retails for Rs. 2100/- in India. I had purchased it in October but as per the SA the prices were supposed to change by the month end so I have no clue about the updated price now.

CLINIQUE - 3 step Skin Care : Skin Type 4 (combination to oily)

The contents of this introductory pack included:
1. Liquid Facial Soap Oily Skin Formula (50 ml /1.7 FL.OZ)
2. Clarifying Lotion 3 (100 ml /3.4 FL.OZ)
3. Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (50 ml /1.7 FL.OZ)

Step 1: Facial soap - To Cleanse

Clinique Facial soap
Claims: It's how great skin begins- in three skin typed formulas. Leaves skin feeling clean, comfortable, refreshed, without drying. Preps skin for the next steps.
Results: A good face wash to wakeup and start your day with. Its mild, lathers well but wont help you remove makeup thoroughly. Since this pack was designed for a specific skin type I had teeny tiny bit more expectations from it. The facewash somehow focused more on oily skin type and would leave my cheeks feeling dry after a wash. My T-zone felt good but my cheeks did bother me a little.

Step 2: Clarifying lotion - To Exfoliate

Clinique Clarifying lotion 3
Claims: The difference-maker. Applied with cotton ball, gentle exfoliating action sweeps away dead, dull cells. Speeds fresher livelier cells to skin's surface to promote radiance. Four skin-typed formulas address any need.
Results: This is one of the most strong exfoliators I have ever used. There is a very high alcohol content present in it. My skin stings a bit after applying it. If you rub the cotton around your cheeks even faintly close to your eyes they sting too. However, it fulfills all the necessary duties of an exfoliator. After the step of cleansing, the parts where partially my skin is dry (around the cheeks) the exfoliator makes it sting a bit more. Personally I wouldn't like to use skin care products with a high alcohol content.

Step 3: Dramatically Different moisturizing gel - To Moisturize

Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizing gel

Claims: Softens, smooths and improves skin texture and condition. Maintains skin's optimal moisture balance. In lotion or oil-free gel.
Results: This is no doubt it is a very nourishing moisturizer. The gel based moisturizer does seep into your skin really quick. I applied it overnight and saw that my skin did really feel soft and smooth in the morning. However, I really did wonder as to what is the difference between the dramatically different moisturizing gel and the Clinique moisture surge, since I did face very similar results with surge.

I can say that the facial soap is quiet good. I really dig the moisturizing gel cause its very nourishing. It gives your skin an even smooth look with a nice texture but I wouldn't purchase the clarifying lotion. The alcohol content is way too much I feel. As per my opinion, the way it strips down the skin is really very unhealthy. Would probably use it once in 15 days but that's about it. Other both products get a Thumbs up! Overall verdict, I feel this product is really very hyped.

Hope you beauties liked this blog post and if you have some suggestions please leave it in the comments section below. I will definitely try and work on it. Much Love xx. Cheers.

Keep Loving and Living Life.

  2. True that. Most blogs would go all gaga over clinique products but the truth is they are too strong for any skin type. I used to regularly use Clinique Foaming Face Wash and I ended up eventually with flaky, dry peeling off red rashes on the softer under eye-cheek area. I haven't used Clinique since then.

    1. sorry to hear about that but as an alternative you can opt for the Just Herbs Orange and Neem Rehydrant facewash works well even with sensitive skin. Its my personal favorite.
