Top 5 Do’s and Don’ts of skincare | Current Skincare routine

Hello Chicsters!

Recently, Team TCD attended an event by Galderma in Bombay. The topic of discussion in a panel of experts was all things skincare including skincare products, ingredients, skin concerns, skin type analysis and much more. Today through this post we will be shedding light on the top 5 do’s and don’t do skincare.
Going to bed with your makeup on is one of the most unhygienic practices you can follow. The makeup ends up clogging up your pores and which in turn will give rise to breakouts. On the other hand, the best practice that you can follow for makeup removal is double-cleansing followed by your moisturiser. The combination of Biluma Advance Skin Brightening Face wash and the Cetaphil Gentle cleanser works amazingly well for double-cleansing my skin.

Do analyse your skin and skincare ingredients to use the correct products.
One of the most important steps of skincare is to analyse your skin type. Figure out whether you are a dry, combination, oily, sensitive, normal or a combination skin type and get products accordingly that are suited for your skin type. Invest in products that cater to your specific skin type and help your skin maintain its circadian rhythm. Also, be mindful of the ingredients in your products. If you are unaware of your skin type or the products that may suit you then do visit a dermatologist. One such brand that I have grown to love and trust over years is - Cetaphil. Their products are skin type specific and have clear branding that mentions the same. The best part is this is the No. 1 Dermatologist prescribed brand across many countries.

Do follow a simple skincare routine.
Consistency is the key. Do not follow current fads and slather your skin with multiple products that may or may not work for you. Stick to a simple Cleanse, Tone, Moisturise & Sunscreen skincare routine. Consistency is what brings results in the long run. Also, while using skin care products for your face, do not forget to show some TLC to your body as well.

Do use sunscreen every single day.
Use a good broad-spectrum sunscreen every day that combats UVA and UVB rays. Use sunscreen both indoors and outdoors every day. Most skin concerns are a direct or indirect cause of sun damage so incorporating sunscreen in your skincare regime is a must!

Don’t skimp on sleep and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
And last but not the least, maintain a healthy lifestyle. Imbibe habits that will improve the health of your skin like staying hydrated, getting ample sleep, exercising, eating nutritious food and including supplements that boost your skin health.

Customers today are looking for more safe options in skincare and are opting for gentler ingredients. This is the reason why Cetaphil decided to upgrade its packaging to a skin type centric and decided to create gentler formulations.

My current skincare regime includes a simple 3 step CTM routine for daytime and nighttime.

Skin Type - Combination skin

Morning skincare routine:
Cleanser - Cetaphil Gentle Skin cleanser: One of the most gentle cleansers from the brand Cetaphil. Helps remove dirt and impurities without making skin dry. This mild, soap-free formula helps maintain the pH of the skin and moisturises while cleansing.

Toner - Cetaphil Bright Healthy radiance toner: A gentle formula toner that is hypoallergenic, fragrance free and non sticky. Made with the goodness of natural sea daffodil extract and niacinamide. It helps hydrate the skin while getting rid of dullness.

Moisturiser - Biluma Advance Day cream: Helps reduce dark spots and evens skin tone while nourishing the skin. Made with the goodness of natural brightening agent like rumex occidentalis. Helps protect against sun damage with a UV filter called escalol.

Sunscreen - Cetaphil SUN SPF 50+ Light Gel: A broad spectrum Sunscreen that protects against UV rays as well as IR rays. This gel based product is water and sweat resistant and does not leave a white cast.

Evening skincare routine:
Cleanser - Cetaphil Gentle Skin cleanser: This cleanser is suitable for all skin types. It cleanses the skin without causing any dryness or tugging of the skin. It also works really well in double cleansing when you have makeup on your skin as it moisturises and cleanses the skin.

Toner - Cetaphil Bright Healthy radiance toner: This toner is gentle in nature and helps the skin breathe without clogging it. The non-comedogenic formula not only helps cleanse the pores but also helps provide a healthy natural glow to the skin. This is another product that works well with all skin types as it’s hypoallergenic in nature and fragrance free.

Moisturiser- Biluma Advance Night cream: Brightens and evens skin tone along with reducing wrinkles and finelines. Made with the goodness of Kakadu Plum, hyaluronic acid, almond oil, macademia nut oil and shea butter. The Kakadu plum helps brighten the skin from within delivering a healthy glow. While as the almond oil, macadamia nut oil and Shea butter help hydrate and rejuvenate the skin. The hyaluronic acid seals in the hydration helping you wake up to a healthy, supple and glowing skin in the morning.

Body - Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion as a Body Lotion: A soothing lotion that contains a blend of natural ingredients like sweet almond oil and Vitamin E that provides 48 hours long lasting hydration. This product has been a favourite of mine for years. The soothing formula has been a winner for me during any season or any climatic change. The combination of Vitamin E and Sweet Almond oil helps keep the skin nourished throughout the day.
